Tom Clark Rallying

Results

To get on to the first rung of the motor sport ladder, Tom started karting from a young age like many aspiring racing drivers. He then went on to compete in autocross in the brand new junior section in 2007. He won his class in every round of the Home Counties Autocross Championship thus winning the overall championship, beating far more experienced drivers with faster cars. In the East Anglian Autocross Championship, he managed second overall.

In 2008, he won the junior class in the newly revived MSA British Autocross Championship. The revival of the championship gave the sport a new boost and winning the junior class is something Tom is very proud of.. He also went on to win the junior class in the Home Counties championship.

2008 was also the year he entered the rallying scene. In the UK, you have to be 17 years old and hold an RTA driving licence to rally. In Latvia, you can be as young as 14 years as long as your co-driver is able to drive the road sections between stages. This is where Aggie Foster comes in. A long standing family friend and experienced co-driver, she fitted the bill perfectly. Tom and Aggie have worked hard together to get the results they achieved in 2008. The pair started in an MG ZR, whilst the Suzuki Swift was being built. In the first event at the Kekava Winter Rally, the new team finished 11th in class and 47th overall. Not bad for a driver who was a mere 14 years and 344 days old. When the Suzuki arrived at the third event, Rally Tukums, it had not turned a wheel prior to the start of the event. Tom had not even seen the car, never mind driven it. This did not stop him from attaining 8th in class and 52nd overall.

The pair have continued their success in 2009 now the Suzuki is back on the road.
Tom's ambition is to become a professional racing driver and drive in the World Rally Championship. He has the potential for great success and with the guidance from his family and team, he can certainly attain it.
